Summerhill Estate host the NZ Black Ferns for a fun training event with a twist - speed golf!
On Sunday 31st January, Summerhill Estate was fortunate enough to host the NZ Black Ferns for a fun training event with a twist - speed golf!  The group of 53 included the Black Ferns squad, coaches, Physio and support crew.  There were five players per team, and the idea of the game was for one person to tee off, the entire team then runs to the ball, someone takes the next shot and you continue running all nine holes in as short of a time as possible.  With the undulating layout of the course, this looked like reasonably hard work!

It was a stunning day here at Summerhill, and with golf being an excellent way to level the playing field, there were plenty of laughs, smiles and hotly contested competition. The morning was not only a big success for the players involved, but it also created a real buzz for all those lucky enough to be here at the time to see the Black Ferns doing something a little different.

Black Ferns Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jamie Tout, was pleased with how the morning went and when asked why they chose Summerhill, Jamie told us that Summerhill was a great choice.
"We were looking for a course that would provide us with a unique experience and being up in the hills gave us some great views of the BOP. Bryce Lawrence (ex International Rugby Referee) actually recommended the course as a great fit for the Black Ferns to play some speed golf after a tough few days of testing and training. The rolling hills provided a good flush for the legs and there was plenty of variety in the holes…. Better still the balls were easy enough to find if we went wayward.  100% the course met expectations - the team had a great time and look forward to coming back again for a more leisurely round!"

Thanks to Jamie and the team for allowing us to be a part of such a fun event and we look forward to hosting you again in the future.
